Description

Acut: Unlimited Shutter Battle, a brand new non-scripted format

‘Acut: Unlimited Shutter Battle’ is a photographer competition show. A team of 5 photographers who were selected from audition and 5 caddies, their assistants are asked to finish a set of 5 missions a day in photo studios equipped with just cameras and props during the show! The best Acut
(“A-cut”), namely the Acut of the Season, will be selected among 15 missions from 3 sets, from a
fierce competition and drop-outs from every 5 missions!
“No limit, no boundary” is one of the principles. Every photographer can use any props or
materials to express his/her idea as painters do. All the photoshop retouching is allowed as well.
The photographers needs to be unique having different ways of expressing their ideas with
photos. As painters do, they would take great photos based on imagination and inspiration.
The missions are as creative as the photographers’s works. For example, ‘If they are living things’
is to make objects as if they were living things, ‘I’m a light’ is to capture light through lens, ‘Zero
Gravity’ is to create imagined story or imagine in zero gravity, and ‘Parallel Universe’ is to produce
two model images in a parallel universe.

As a team, the photographer and his/her caddy, an assistant, help each other to take the A-cut. Only caddies can get access to the props and take what the photographers want to their studio. Sometimes those caddies get together in another studio, for example white cyc., play games to decide whose team go first or to get benefit for the competition.

In ‘Vote’ stage, 5 photos per mission show up on the led screen. 4 judges - 1 photographer, 2
artists, 1 fashion designer - watch the photos, have talks and decide the A-cut for the mission through blind screening, without knowing whose photos they are.
