Lee Jae-hoon, Moon Chae-won to present new audio-only thriller series

Actors Lee Jae-hoon and Moon Chae-won will be presenting a new type of audio content via Naver's first audio-only series, "Floor" (direct translation).
The suspense thriller, set to be released Dec. 27 through Naver's music streaming service Vibe, revolves around a mysterious murder that occurred in a residential building, where the residents were suffering from noise issues with their neighbors.
Profiler Kang-ho (Lee) teams up with detective Ji-ho (Moon) to investigate the building's residents, who become suspects in the murder, and to trace clues to find the killer.
Unlike previous audiobooks, this six-part series will feature the voice acting of the cast members, topped with realistic sound effects, as well as visual effects of the characters' lines and computer graphics. It is directed by actor and filmmaker Lim Ji-hwan, who directed the 2019 action film, "Zombie Fighter."
"Since this is a new type of content, I liked how it is a new challenge. So I got on board with the project," Lee said during an online press conference for the series, Thursday. "I'm hopeful that I'll bring out a new side of me with this project. I've always done video work, so this one's special in the sense that I'm portraying a character through just audio."
The actor, who recently made his directorial debut with the film "Unframed," said that this challenge inspired him a lot as a creator as well.
"To take part in such an adventure is really an exciting experience as a creator. Because this is the first time making this type of content, there's a risk of trial and error. But I was inspired by how the director forged his way through the production," he said. "I believe that it will stir the audience's imagination as they follow along with the story."
Actress Moon also expressed his excitement over releasing her first audio series. "Since this is a series that delivers the story using only audio, I have high hopes that it will allow the audience to engage in the story via their imagination," she said. "And it touches on the social issue of the problem of noise complaints among neighbors, and other concepts that I've never explored. So I found it very refreshing."
The director talked about the pressure that he took on with the project. "As it has earned the title of being Korea's first (audio series), I was worried that I might disappoint people (when it comes out). In particular, as I got to work with such great actors for this project, I've put my whole heart in to making this a good one," he said.
Lim said that his purpose for the series is to provide vivid audio content to stimulate viewers' visual imaginations.
"The key focus of this series was to take viewers through a storm of sound effects throughout 120 minutes, and leave a lingering visualization of the story on them when it ends," he said. "I actually wrote the script for a real film, instead of as an audio series, so I wanted to bring out realistic effects for the story."
