CJ Group Vice Chairperson Lee Mie-kyung, also known as Miky Lee, will receive a 2022 International Emmy Directorate Award, which is given to individuals or organizations for their outstanding contributions to international television over a long period of time.

She will receive the award honoring her life's work and contributions at the 50th International Emmy Awards gala in New York on Nov. 21.

"Miky Lee is in a class of her own, a visionary leader who has harnessed her exceptional business acumen and love of her country's culture by tirelessly spearheading the global phenomenon of the Korean wave for over twenty-five years," Bruce L. Paisner, the president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, said in a press release.

"The whole world witnessed her commitment to our industry and Korea when she, along with the creators of 'Parasite,' enthusiastically accepted the Oscar for her company's award-winning film, 'Parasite,' a historic milestone for Korean content," he said.

Separately, the Academy Museum announced earlier this month that Lee will be honored at the second annual Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala on Oct. 15. It said that Lee will receive the gala's Pillar Award, acknowledging her exemplary leadership and support for the museum. Since 2020, Lee has been serving as vice chair of the board of trustees of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

She joins other honorees, which include Oscar-winning actors Tilda Swinton, Julia Roberts and "12 Years a Slave" director Steve McQueen.

"At our 2022 Gala, we are deeply honored to recognize four members of our international film community whose outstanding achievements inspire us all," said Bill Kramer, the Academy Museum's director and president.

In March, Lee was also recognized as Variety's International Media Woman of the Year.

Lee, who is in charge of CJ's entertainment division, is believed to have helped catapult Korean cinema and music onto the global stage. Her executive producer credits include director Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite," which made history in 2020 by becoming the first non-English language film to win the Oscar for best picture, and director Park Chan-wook's "Decision to Leave," which won the Best Director award at 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

Lee was the key driving force behind K-pop's global rise, creating and growing KCON, the K-culture festival that celebrates Korean culture and music. Along with Lynda Obst, she will co-produce "K-pop: Lost in America," a road-trip movie about a K-pop group struggling to make its debut in America.

On the TV side, Lee oversaw the English-language series adaptation of "Snowpiercer." Her company's credits also include TV series "Crash Landing on You," "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" and "Hospital Playlist."
