New Year, new start.
To lift people's spirits and give them hope for a fresh start, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has prepared a special concert at Seoul Arts Center.
'2021 New Year's Concert' will feature a range of performances including ballet, orchestras and operas. Soprano Park Hye-sang, also known as Hera Hye-sang Park - who recently released her own album with renowned German classical music record label Deutsche Grammophon,… will sing the main theme song of drama 'Mr. Sunshine'.

"The writer wrote lyrics that express pain and suffering well. I believe having the courage to say that we are in agony is as important as delivering a message of hope. The lyrics show the reason why we need encouraging energy, which we need to overcome the difficulties we are currently facing."

Globally recognized pianist Kim Sunwook - who won the 2006 Leeds International Piano Competition at the age of 18 - will present Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1, a piece with a delicate melody expressing great delight.

"Music, and arts in a broader sense, is not a necessity in our lives but gives us positive energy. Amid difficult times, if lots of viewers could get some vitality in what they do while hearing the music, I would say I am doing my job right."

The grand finale will be by KBS Symphony Orchestra playing Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World".

"Opus 4 of the symphony is an especially fitting piece of music for those who want to dream of higher, larger, better hopes because Dvorak composed this piece after seeing the big American continent."

The concert begins on January 6th at 7 PM, and will be live-streamed through Seoul Arts Center's Naver TV and YouTube channels.
