From Seo Taiji and Boys in the 1990s to SuperM, H.O.T., BoA Psy's Gangnam Style, Super Junior, EXO and BTS K-pop has evolved on the global stage over the last three decades.
And, lately, we're seeing more Korean entertainment management companies team up with media giants for global scale K-Pop audition shows.
SM Entertainment joined hands with MGM Worldwide Television for an audition show to choose members of 'NCT-Hollywood,' a U.S.-based subunit of the K-pop group 'NCT.'
We're also hearing that HYBE, the powerhouse behind BTS, will launch an audition program in collaboration with UMG's Geffen Records to start a new boy band.

K-pop's global market exploration doesn't end in the United States. CJ ENM announced plan to launch a K-pop audition show in South America with WarnerMedia's HBO Max and Mexican Endemol Shine Boomdog. This will mark the first audition program by a Korean company targeting the South American market. What's the significance, and how do you analyze the K-pop industry's market expansion to regions beyond the already established ones?

Engaging with your favorite artist through digital platform has become the new norm since the outbreak of the pandemic, and the competition is heating up as big tech firms strive to gain an edge. HYBE's 'WeVerse' merged with Naver while its main competitor 'Universe' teamed up with NCSoft and Kakao just to name a few. What's new on the digital platform competition?

How will the growing online fanbase coupled with high-tech digital platforms further impact the K-pop industry?

Youtube recently released a documentary series that sheds light on the 10 billion-dollar K-pop industry. It also shows the pain and hardships behind the glamour and the glitz of K-pop stars. Given that the first episode has already hit over 2 million views, are we entering a new phase where fans would like to see the industry in a larger context? What are the implications of such documentary being produced and displayed by Youtube?
