Another week has passed, but one thing remains the same: BTS at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
But it's not their latest single 'Permission to Dance', but their other hit 'Butter' returning to the throne for the 8th time.
With over 115-thousand downloads sold, 30.7 million radio airplay audience impressions and a staggering 8.8 million U.S. streams in the week ending July 22nd, Butter is once again America's favorite song. 'Permission to Dance,' which debuted at number one last week, moved down to number seven, the very spot 'Butter' sat for a solitary week.
With the latest feat, BTS now has 14 Billboard Hot 100 number ones, including three with their previous hit 'Dynamite'.
The feat was achieved in just 10-and-a-half months, making BTS the quickest act to have five number ones since Michael Jackson.
The legendary pop star earned five Hot 100 number ones in nine-and-a-half months from 1987 to 1988.
BTS is once again proving that the only artist capable of dethroning them right now, is themselves.
In addition, 'Permission to Dance' may have a shot at regaining the number 1 spot next week as BTS released an R&B remix of the track on Friday.
Whichever song sits atop the Billboard Hot 100 next week, there's one thing no one can deny, the summer of 2021 belongs to BTS.
