Seven-kilometers south from the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas lies a steam locomotive with more than a thousand bullet holes.
Derailed by bombs during the Korean War, it's now on display as a symbol of the area's tragic history. Inspired by the locomotive, the Culture Ministry and Korea Tourism Organization came up with a high-tech musical titled "Wonder Ticket".

It was originally planned for last year, but due to the COVID-19, it had to be shown online.
This year, with a more developed storyline and cutting-edge technology such as holograms and 3D-mappings, it will be showcased from September 17th to 26th on the outdoor stage of Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park. The show's chief director said they are aiming for it to be an unprecedented Korean-style blockbuster musical.

"The DMZ border area had been full of sites such as underground tunnels that were used to awaken the sense of national security. This musical will help make this unique place the center of peace tourism."

Starring the well-known rock star Yoon Do-hyun as the main character, the show's mesmerizing performances give the audience hope.

"My hometown is Paju, and Imjingak is where I would always go for school picnics. I have released lots of songs with messages of peace, so this musical has a lot of meaning for me."

Hoping that the musical will bring more people to the site to think about peace, the staff are preparing for the show, with the bookings open from Wednesday. Kim Bo-kyoung, Arirang News.
