Three of the documentaries that were made through the sponsorship programs of the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) will be screened at this year's EBS International Documentary Festival.

The agency announced Friday that "Fourteen Masters," "Speed of Happiness" and "Namaste Kim Sir" have been invited to the festival for official screenings and to be broadcast on the local educational TV network, EBS.

"I express my respect to all of those who have persistently strived to show the power of broadcasting content even through the situation with COVID-19," Lee Do-hyeong, the head of KOCCA's broadcasting division, said in the statement. "We will continue to provide support towards the local broadcasting industry to expand its presence in the global market with its content, regardless of the genre."

"Fourteen Masters," directed by Seo Min-won, follows 14 taekwondo instructors from South Korea and other countries who visited Pyongyang in September 1980, becoming the first to introduce the sport to North Korea and training the first generation of instructors there. The documentary was selected as one of the projects for KOCCA's broadcasting content sponsorship program in 2020.

The 60-minute documentary, which is invited to the Doc's Fever section of the festival, will be screened on Saturday at Megabox in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

"Speed of Happiness," which won KOCCA's funding in 2018, is about two men working as "bokka," who make deliveries on foot around mountainous areas in Japan's Oze National Park. The film, directed by Park Hyuck-jee, has been invited to the Space, Memory section and will be screened on Friday at the same location.

Helmed by Lee Jong-eun, "Namaste Kim Sir" unfolds the story of Kim Kyu-hyun, 74, who moved to Nepal to teach art at a local school. The film, which was made through KOCCA's funding program in 2020, will be broadcast on the network on Saturday.
