It’s now time for our daily corner, On Point, where we speak to experts in their field to dig deeper into the biggest news stories in the spotlight. Every Friday, we’re going to discuss the latest goings-on in the world of entertainment with an extra focus on Korean content.

Right, and today we are going to look closer at the exploding global popularity of K-Pop, the continued worldwide success of BTS and hear about a solo outing by one of the members of Blackpink. For that, we connect live to Rob Graham, CEO of Eon Music Media and Executive Producer of AsiaPop40.

Rob, it’s amazing to see the success that bands like BTS and Blackpink are having around the world, and especially in the U.S., which very few non-American artists ever conquer. What explains the unprecedented success of BTS and Blackpink in the U.S. and also in Europe?

The BTS train keeps rumbling on. They’ve teamed up with Coldplay for the track ‘My Universe’ and scored yet another Number 1 debut on Billboard's main singles chart. What’s the backstory behind BTS’ collaboration with Coldplay and given the instant success of ‘My Universe’, is it safe to assume BTS will continue working with international artists?

Given BTS and Blackpink’s success outside Korea, are we going to see more K-Pop bands coming through that try to emulate their style? If so, how do you rate their chances of breaking America?

Before we let you go, Lisa, a member of Blackpink, is having astonishing success with her solo debut ‘LALISA’. The music video has over 250 million YouTube views in just 3 weeks. As a result, do you see Blackpink taking a back seat for a while as the girls release their own solo tracks?

Ok, thanks for joining us There’s no doubt that K-pop continues to have the entertainment world in the palm of its hand. Have a great weekend and hopefully speak to you soon. That was Rob Graham, CEO of Eon Music Media and Executive Producer of AsiaPop40.
