BTS to perform at American Music Awards, up for three awards
BTS is looking to make history yet again this time at the 2021 American Music Awards.
The supergroup are due to perform twice at the show which kicks off at 10 AM Korea time, including once with Coldplay AND they are also up for three awards: Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song for "Butter."
The Billboard-winning song is one of the five candidates for the prize, including "drivers license" by Olivia Rodrigo and "Levitating" by Dua Lipa.
Over the weekend, "Butter" already snagged this year's Record of the Year award from American entertainment publication, Variety.
That's the second time the K-pop band has scooped a Variety award after winning Group of the Year last year.
Since their U.S. TV debut, performing "DNA" at the 2017 AMAs, they have been nominated for nine awards. In fact, of the six nominations before this year, the boy group has won every last one.
But it is the first time that they have made the cut for Artist of The Year, which is arguably the highlight of the fan-voted AMA.
Other nominees include Drake, the Weeknd, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.
BTS has already made history as the first K-pop artist ever to be nominated for the Artist of the Year at the American music event, and Sunday's event will be even more special as it's their first in-person award show appearance since the Grammy Awards in February last year.
