Choi Woo-shik and Kim Da-mi, who co-starred in the mystery action series, "The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion" in 2018, have reunited for the SBS romantic comedy series, "Our Beloved Summer," set to go on air on Dec. 6.

Based on the webcomic of the same name by Han Kyoung-chal, the upcoming series revolves around former high school sweethearts Choi Woong (Choi) and Gook Yeon-soo (Kim).

Years after the lovers parted ways, the two are forced back into each other's lives when a documentary they filmed in high school goes viral.

The series is directed by Kim Yoon-jin and is scripted by screenwriter Lee Na-eun.

"In 'The Witch,' we were like rivals who wanted to beat and find ways to hurt each other. But this time, we have a completely different chemistry," Choi said during an online press conference for the series, Wednesday. "(Since we already knew,) I could comfortably ask questions to Da-mi and communicate with her on the set. I could rely on her."

Kim said one of the reasons she took the role was to co-star with Choi.

"We've met together again after three years, but we were so comfortable with each other," she said. "We didn't need to waste time getting acquainted with each other… we would discuss our acting together and worked in such a comfortable environment."

The director noted that the relationship between the two actors from previously working together helped bring out the chemistry of the two characters in the series.

"The relationship they already established has positively impacted the series," he said. "We started filming in July and up until September, we filmed the characters' high school years. (From the beginning,) they showed the chemistry like they've known each other for a long time already. And it wouldn't have been possible if they didn't have that relationship."

The director described series as a coming-of-age story.

"The story starts at the beginning of the summer when the characters are 19 and follows them to the age of 29. It's about four young adults who met as teenagers and are on the edge of turning 30," he said.

Choi's character, Choi Woong, is an illustrator who is laid back and free-spirited. "Choi Woong is laid back and enjoys relaxing, but sometimes he can be enthusiastic and sharp. So I felt that I can show two different sides of me through the character," he said.

Kim Da-mi plays Gook Yeon-soo, a realistic and hard-working marketer. "She has the highest GPA in her class and works hard to get by every day. But after meeting Choi Woong, she changes and grows," she said.

She noted that the series will feature a multi-layered story that will appeal to viewers. "The series involves so many different perspectives of each character. It will be fun to watch," she said.

Cho added that the series will have a colorful story, referring it to seasons. "The series has all four seasons in the story, which will remind the viewers of their own recollection of their past and love," he said.

"Our Beloved Summer" will air on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m.
