MCA, an AI entertainment company, has unveiled a groundbreaking short film contest where participants utilize generative AI to create films starring actress Na Moon-hee. Co-organized by MCA, Na Moon-hee's agency Content Park Entertainment, and Naver, the contest runs until October 31 and offers a total prize pool of 10 million KRW for exceptional entries.
This contest is touted by MCA as the world’s first AI film competition featuring a major actor as the lead. Contestants can select any genre for their films and have the option to produce traditional live-action films or animated versions featuring Na Moon-hee. They may also digitally alter her age to fit their storylines.
The initiative highlights MCA's innovative approach to digital intellectual property, with the company legally owning the rights to Na Moon-hee's digital likeness. The contest aims to set a benchmark for the lawful use of AI likenesses of star actors, providing creators with artistic freedom while ensuring adherence to legal standards.
