The Busan Global Webtoon Festival is scheduled from October 3 to 6 at the Busan Cultural Content Complex. Organized by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency and the Busan-Gyeongnam Cartoonist Association, the event seeks to showcase Busan's webtoon talent and foster the growth of the webtoon industry. Under the theme 'Webtoon The Movie, Multi-Universe,' the festival will bring together around 180 webtoon artists from both local and international backgrounds.
Attendees will enjoy a variety of events, including webtoon artwork exhibitions, award ceremonies, conferences, and B2B business consultations. The 'Webtoon, The Movie Multi-Universe Exhibition' invites attendees to explore movie posters and scenes creatively reimagined as webtoons. Special exhibitions will also mark the 30th anniversary of 'The Ruler of the Land' and highlight collaborations with global artists and webtoon students from Busan universities.
Visitors can participate in interactive activities such as caricature exchanges and battle drawing contests. Additionally, the festival will coincide with the 'October Festival,' another major convention in Busan. Jin Jae-min, Director of Culture and Sports Bureau, expressed aspirations for Busan to establish itself as a cultural hub, emphasizing hopes for the continued expansion and success of the webtoon industry in the city.
