The Ministry of Science and ICT is set to host the '2024 International OTT Festival' in Busan from July 4 to 6. This event, in collaboration with Busan City, aims to promote Korean OTT platforms and media innovations on a global scale. By highlighting Korea's leading OTT services and media content, the festival seeks to foster international business partnerships and attract substantial investment.
This year's festival broadens its scope to include advertising-based free streaming TV (FAST) and cutting-edge media technologies. A notable addition is the 'Investment Showcase,' designed to spotlight media technology companies, along with a strengthened lineup of both domestic and international investors, broadcasters, and producers. Featured events include the 'International OTT Summit,' focusing on advancements in FAST and media innovation. For the first time, the festival will present an 'OTT House' displaying the latest offerings from Korea's premier OTT provider, TVING, and introduce the 'People's Choice Award' at the 'International OTT Awards.'
The opening day was marked by the presence of Kang Doo-hyun, Second Vice Minister of Science and ICT, who engaged with representatives from domestic OTT companies and media technology enterprises to discuss strategies for enhancing global competitiveness. The festival will also acknowledge and reward excellence in OTT and media technology through various awards, while providing business matchmaking opportunities and exclusive screenings of unreleased content. This event serves as a vital platform for industry collaboration and innovation.
