Ocon's 'Horror Nights' clinched the Best Scenario award at the 4th Korean Animation Awards, which took place at the Ramada Plaza Gwangju Hotel. The ceremony, part of the Web Animation Festival organized by the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency and hosted by Gwangju City, is designed to support professionals in the animation industry and further its growth.
Directed by Jo Hang-jin, 'Horror Nights' highlights Ocon's expertise in 3D animation with a distinctive K-horror flair. It stood out in the scenario category among numerous entries covering commercial animations aired from January 2023 to June 2024. The eight-episode series premiered on the OTT platform Wavve in February.
The animation delves into relatable, thought-provoking stories, tackling crucial societal issues in Korea such as school violence and sensationalist media. These themes are portrayed through intense human emotions like greed and jealousy. Ocon's CEO, Woo Ji-hee, remarks that 'Horror Nights' is celebrated for its captivating narrative and unique execution in the horror animation genre, with plans to continue creating stories that resonate with Korean audiences.
