Kakao Entertainment has been selected as an official partner of Google's Trusted Copyright Removal Program (TCRP), the first Korean company to receive this designation. The TCRP recognizes companies that consistently provide data on illegal distribution to Google. This partnership allows Kakao to report an unlimited number of cases daily and ensures faster processing times. Since 2019, Kakao's P.CoK team has blocked approximately 240 million illegal webtoons and web novels.
This partnership will help Kakao expand its anti-piracy efforts globally. Kakao plans to develop comprehensive strategies to protect its intellectual property, expanding beyond webtoons and web novels. Kakao Entertainment’s Legal Director, Lee Ho-joon, emphasized the importance of this partnership in combating global piracy and protecting their IP.
