The Korean Cultural Center New York, in collaboration with the Astoria Film Festival, will host a Korean Animation Shorts screening on August 2-3 at its Manhattan headquarters. The event will feature 11 short animations, including "Swimming" (directed by Seo Sae-rom), which won the grand prize at the Seoul Independent Film Festival, and "How to Get Used to Loneliness" (directed by Seo Pyeong-won), an official selection at the LA International Short Film Festival. On August 2, nine short films covering themes such as family, society, and discrimination will be screened, followed by a Q&A session with the directors. The Astoria Film Festival, established to celebrate the diverse cultures of New York City, annually showcases a variety of short films, animations, workshops, and lectures.
The Korean Animation Shorts screening is free to attend, with reservations available on the Korean Cultural Center's website. Additionally, the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), running since July 12, has featured a range of Korean films, including the opening film "The Victory," "Spring in Seoul," "Digging," and "The Outlaws 4," shown across various venues in New York City.
