Naver Webtoon's original webtoon "Lore Olympus" has won the Best Webcomic category at the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, marking the third consecutive year that Naver Webtoon has produced an Eisner Award-winning work. The Eisner Awards are considered the "Academy Awards of Comics," and this year was their 36th anniversary.
"Lore Olympus," created by Rachel Smythe, is a fantasy romance that reinterprets Greek and Roman mythology, focusing on the love story between Hades and Persephone. The webtoon was discovered through Naver Webtoon's amateur artist platform, CANVAS, and has been translated into seven languages, accumulating 1.7 billion views since its launch in 2018.
Naver Webtoon has been actively nurturing talent through its CANVAS platform, allowing amateur artists to publish and eventually have their work promoted to official serialized content. This strategy has contributed to a creative ecosystem where both amateur and professional content thrive. Kim Jun Koo, CEO of Webtoon Entertainment and Naver Webtoon, expressed pride in "Lore Olympus" for making history in the webtoon industry.
