Big Screen Revival: CGV and KOCCA Launch “K-Animation” Theatrical Showcase

This event marks a pivotal step in revitalizing Korea’s animation ecosystem by returning

domestic titles to theaters—linking family audiences, creators, and distributors while reinforcing

KOCCA’s support for the circulation of original IP beyond streaming platforms.

♦  CGV-KOCCA Partnership Expands Theater Access

      • CGV will launch the K-Animation showcase on November 8, screening seven animations supported by

KOCCA production programs, following last month’s MOU.

      • The initiative aims to expand theatrical screening infrastructure for Korean animation and to promote

healthy circulation within the industry ecosystem.

♦  Seven Diverse Works Showcase Genre Range

      • Lineup features RoboCar POLI, Cats are Masters of The World, Twinkle day with Dallimi, Shasha & Milo,

Dragon Girl, Maru is a Puppy

      • Works span adventure, action, musical, comedy, and romance genres, presenting diverse Korean

          animation storytelling in single venue

♦  Character Events and Weekly Merchandise Rollout

      • Programming includes director-and-voice-actor guest sessions (GV) and character-mascot stage

greetings designed to engage young audiences.

      • Weekly merchandise will include coloring books, glow stickers, decorative seals, and posters

          distributed throughout the showcase period.

♦  Platform for K-Animation’s Future Potential

       • According to CGV’s Content Operations Team Leader, the showcase offers “a special opportunity to

examine the present and future of K-animation beyond simple screenings.”

       • The initiative positions theaters as venues where audiences can directly experience the possibilities

           and appeal of Korean animation.
