Detail

A new robot live-action drama, backed by Korea’s advanced technology, is being developed for the global market, challenging the dominance of Japanese tokusatsu. LG Uplus, in partnership with SAMG Entertainment and Hi-Zium Studio, is creating the drama "K-TRON", targeting a global OTT release in 2026. The project will combine the strengths of the three companies in production, investment, and distribution.
LG Uplus will utilize its content studio, STUDIO X+U, to co-plan and produce the IP, while SAMG Entertainment will bring its expertise from successful global franchises like "Catch! Teenieping" and "Mini Force." Hi-Zium Studio will apply its experience from popular dramas such as "Itaewon Class" and "Money Heist: Korea." The project aims to create a new high-value IP that appeals to global audiences, particularly mecha fans.
The collaboration is seen as a significant step for the Korean entertainment industry, which has long sought to produce a giant robot live-action drama. The project is expected to leverage Korea’s AI and VFX technologies, with the goal of establishing a new standard in the global content market.
