Yoon Hong-sung, a student from Gimpo University's Game Content Department, received the Jeonju Information and Cultural Industry Promotion Agency Award at the 'GLOBAL GAME JAM 2024.' The event, held from August 4 for two nights and three days at Jeonju University, centered on the theme of 'Hallyu.' Participants engaged in pre-event learning and idea development on Korean wave topics before diving into intensive game creation during the jam.
The event brought together students and indie game developers from thirteen universities across Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, and other countries, forming international teams. Around 50 participants spent the sleepless three-day schedule brainstorming and creating games. Yoon Hong-sung's team, 'Anything,' which included members from the Netherlands, HKU, Dong Yang University, and indie developers, developed 'Tripping Tourists,' a management simulation game aimed at enhancing visitors' preferences for Korean culture by guiding them to popular tourist spots.
Professor Kwon Yong-man, who oversaw the students' game development, emphasized the importance of GLOBAL GAME JAM 2024 in building international cooperation networks for future game developers. He also highlighted Gimpo University's ongoing success in international game competitions, reflecting the department's strong competitive edge in game development.
