KBS announced on the 12th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CJ ENM at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to collaborate on drama production and business. The agreement aims to tackle the challenges facing the domestic drama market.
Under this MOU, KBS's affiliated production company Monster Union and CJ ENM's Studio Dragon will collaborate on drama planning and production. They also agreed to air each other’s dramas on their channels, including KBS 2TV, tvN, and Tving, and to jointly promote and market these dramas.
As the domestic drama market struggles with rising production costs and changing viewing habits, this partnership seeks to rejuvenate the industry. KBS President Park Min emphasized the cultural impact of well-crafted dramas and expressed hopes that this collaboration will deliver high-quality dramas to both domestic and international audiences, potentially revitalizing the sector. CJ ENM CEO Yoon Sang-hyun echoed these sentiments, aiming for mutual growth and elevating the status of the K-content industry through this strategic cooperation.
