According to industry sources on the 8th, companies like Kakao Entertainment and Genie Music are combining media ventures, such as video content production, with story-driven businesses to enhance the appeal and competitiveness of their music offerings.
Kakao Entertainment continues to launch new music content through collaboration projects and remake releases. Recent examples include Eunbi Kwon’s "Summer, Please," released under the "Project Change" initiative, and ongoing artist collaborations like "Project Colors." The company also distributes original soundtracks (OSTs) for its drama productions like "Diva on the Deserted Island" and "Gyeongseong Creature," as well as popular webtoon IPs such as "Solo Leveling."
Genie Music is also making strides by collaborating with KT's Storywiz platform, releasing OSTs for original webtoons like "The Forest, the Camper, and the Cat" and "Disaster Girl." The company is advancing in the drama OST arena with releases for Olleh TV originals such as "Gaus Electronics" and Genie TV originals like "Battle for Happiness" and "Not Others." Additionally, Dreamus Company’s "FLO" is broadening its music IP portfolio through collaborations with RBW’s Content X, securing songs like Noeul’s "Endless Story," Im Ga-young’s "Tunnel," and Park Soo-jin’s "When My Excitement Reaches You."
