Naver Webtoon is set to expand its AI caricature service to include the distinctive brush pen style of webtoon artist Lee Mal-nyeon, also known as Calm Man. This expansion allows users to receive caricatures in the familiar art style of Lee's popular works such as "Lee Mal-nyeon's Jeonwoo-chi" and "Lee Mal-nyeon Series," simply by uploading a selfie to the platform.
Initially launched on July 22 with illustrations in the style of Jo Seok's "The Sound of Your Heart," the service quickly gained traction, surpassing 500,000 cumulative users within three weeks. This fast adoption eclipsed four months' worth of sales for Naver Webtoon's other AI photo-to-webtoon service, "Living as a Romance Protagonist in This Life," in just one week.
Naver Webtoon continues to innovate with various AI-integrated offerings, as evidenced by the success of "Character Chat," which allows users to converse with webtoon characters. Since its launch, Character Chat has introduced new characters like Seong Joon-soo from "Garbage Time" and Baek Do-hwa from "Operation: True Love," resulting in 135 million user logins and 25 million messages exchanged in just two months.
