The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) has entered into a strategic agreement with BBC Studios and Southeast Asia's leading OTT platform, Viu. This collaboration is set to enhance production, investment, and distribution of global broadcast content. The partnership addresses key challenges in the domestic content production sphere, such as escalating drama production costs and a decline in factual programming genres.
The agreement was formalized during the ‘Broadcast WorldWide (BCWW) 2024,’ which took place from August 27 to 29 at COEX in Seoul. The partnership includes commitments to co-produce high-quality content, expand global distribution networks, and promote a fair and advanced broadcast content ecosystem.
KOCCA Director Jo Hyun-rae emphasized the significance of this alliance in strengthening the global footprint of K-content. Ryan Shiotani from BBC Studios and Lofai Lo from Viu also underscored the partnership's potential to impact the global broadcast industry by delivering a diverse array of compelling K-content to audiences worldwide.
