Korean XR and metaverse companies demonstrated their global competitiveness at the 2024 Thailand National Science and Technology Fair, achieving significant business results. Hosted as part of the 'Korea-ASEAN ICT Convergence Village Development and Operation' initiative, the event featured a 'Korea XR and Metaverse Pavilion' which was effectively managed by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency.
The pavilion, collaboratively operated by five regional metaverse support centers and showcasing 10 local companies, engaged with multiple stakeholders from August 16 to 25 at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center. The pavilion attracted 32 institutions and 16 companies from six countries, leading to 70 consultations with a total deal valuation of approximately $43.3 million (KRW 60.5 billion).
A notable highlight was a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Busan-based EduMeta and Thailand’s HJ Corporation for the joint development of Korean language educational content. Additionally, the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency received a plaque of appreciation from Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation for their significant contributions to the pavilion’s success.
