Detail

KRAFTON, under the leadership of CEO Kim Chang-han, has announced a substantial investment of 120 billion KRW in SpoonLabs, a global company specializing in short-form drama content. This investment represents KRAFTON's largest venture outside its core business to date. SpoonLabs, originally known for its audio platform Spoon, has recently launched Vigloo, a dedicated platform for short-form dramas.
Vigloo offers short-form drama content of approximately two minutes, tailored for audiences across various countries with support for seven languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Thai, and Indonesian. KRAFTON recognizes the strength of SpoonLabs' platform technology and its successful global service, seeing significant growth potential in the short-form drama industry and opportunities for new IP acquisitions.
The short-form drama market is expanding rapidly, particularly in China, the U.S., and Japan. KRAFTON anticipates that Vigloo will help Korean content continue to thrive in this innovative format, contributing to the Hallyu wave. SpoonLabs CEO Choe Hyuk-jae shared plans to penetrate the U.S. and Japanese markets, aiming to set new international standards in the short-form drama sector with KRAFTON's support. SpoonLabs plans to release 120 exclusive pieces of content on Vigloo by year-end and will commence targeted marketing activities in Japan and the U.S. this month.
