Summary
When does a person truly become an adult—somewhere between boyhood and maturity? Even after turning twenty, many still find themselves wavering. For them, perfect choices and perfect love remain stories from a distant land.
Lee Dayeol, who has held a bow since childhood, now sets it down and stands before an unfamiliar major. Having spent his life focusing only on the ten-point bullseye, he has stepped away from that singular path—but now he wanders the campus unsure of what he truly wants. By his side is Jo Taehyun, someone who appears bold and unshakable, yet cannot quite read the heart of the person closest to him. They are certain of one thing: they like each other. But as their ways of communicating and expressing emotions differ, the two gradually begin to feel lonely even within the same space.
A Shoulder to Cry On 2, based on the popular webtoon from Lezhin Comics, is a BL youth drama that follows the growing pains of two young men who were high school students in Season 1 and are now navigating life as college students. Amid the stark realities of society—such as the divide between elite and non-elite universities, coercive drinking culture, and cyberbullying on social media—the two confront the essential loneliness of modern youth: the feeling of being “alone even when together.” The sense of alienation felt beside someone you love, and the fragile trust shaken by a partner’s past are universal emotions experienced in relationships beyond gender.
Under the concept of a “coming-of-age romance,” A Shoulder to Cry On 2 captures emotional nuances with delicacy—never heavy, yet never trivial. The awkward clashes and tentative reconciliations between Dayeol and Taehyun offer viewers a bittersweet sense of recognition, as though their own stories have been quietly revealed, along with a gentle warmth of comfort. As an IP already proven through Season 1 and structured as an eight-episode series with 30-minute episodes—optimized for the OTT environment—the series aims to deliver a universally resonant story that deeply connects with young audiences.
