Summary
In the near future, emotions have become a form of labor.
Every part-time worker must select their daily emotion before clocking in—
Happiness, Empathy, or Calmness—monitored and rated by an AI system called EmoWork.
Their emotional performance directly determines their pay, ranking, and continued employment.
Hae-in, a café worker with a practiced smile;
Soo-ah, a call center agent trained to soothe anger;
Min-gi, a night-shift clerk numbed by exhaustion;
and Jong-woo, an emotion data engineer who designs the very system that exploits them—
all live under the illusion that emotions are manageable, measurable, and marketable.
But when Hae-in’s laughter and voice are used in a corporate ad without her consent,
she discovers that her emotional data has been tokenized and sold as NFTs.
As more workers realize that their “feelings” have been commodified,
they begin to fight back—hacking the system to reclaim their stolen emotions.
A rebellion begins, not with weapons, but with unfiltered emotions.
“If we don’t log out, our emotions will never belong to us again.”
