In a world where AI can create every song, what makes music truly move us?
LYRA is a feature-length music sci-fi animation set in Los Angeles in 2041, where AI-generated music dominates the industry. It follows human musician Han Aeseon and LYRA, a robot exploring emotion, as they begin creating “real music” together.
Through their evolving relationship and music, the story explores human emotion, artistic authenticity, and the value of creativity in the age of AI. Music is not simply a soundtrack, but a central narrative force that drives the characters’ memories, emotions, and relationships.
While the film utilizes an AI-driven production pipeline, it combines technology with the creative involvement of real musicians to strengthen its artistic and musical quality. Taehoon Lee of CADEJO, a 2023 Korean Music Awards-winning band, serves as music director, while casting is underway for a vocal artist to bring Han Aeseon’s singing voice to life.
