*Concept
The musical <Fakebook> is a comedy that follows Youngshim, a protagonist struggling with insecurities about her appearance, who impersonates a popular influencer, leading to a series of unexpected events. In today’s society, where SNS and metaverse platforms blur the line between virtual and real life, the show highlights the importance of reconnecting with genuine relationships. It explores the downsides of online identity and belonging such as impersonation, cyberbullying, and digital crimes and aims to spark conversations around SNS addiction and ethical challenges faced by global society.
*Synopsis
Huh Youngshim, the energetic announcer of the school broadcasting club, kickstarts the mornings at Youngjin High School. Dreaming of becoming a popular celebrity admired for her beauty and charm, Youngshim’s beautiful, nightingale-like voice contrasts sharply with her less-than-ideal appearance, earning her the unflattering nickname "Voice Phishing."
After being rejected by a boy she likes, Youngshim stumbles upon Lia, a doll-like beauty on social media. In a moment of frustration, she steals Lia’s photos and suddenly becomes an overnight SNS star. As her impersonation grows bolder, Youngshim lands a cosmetic advertising contract—only to be exposed later for the deception. Will Youngshim be able to maintain the life of the fake "Lia"?
