Summary
No Wedding follows Yuna and Hae-in, a couple in their mid-twenties who decide to marry without holding a wedding ceremony. What seems like a simple choice soon becomes complicated by family expectations, social conventions, and the commercial pressures surrounding marriage.
As the couple prepares for life together, the joy of “us” is gradually replaced by uncertainty. For Yuna, memories of the past resurface, forcing her to question where the boundaries of family truly lie. A wedding dress, corset laces, and a forced smile become quiet symbols of the pressure built into the institution of marriage.
Through Yuna and Hae-in’s story, the novel explores how social expectations can reshape love and unsettle even the most personal decisions. Delicate and perceptive, it speaks not only to those considering marriage, but to anyone reflecting on love, family, and the choices that define a life.
