[ Story Overview ]
1999, amid the expectations and anxieties of the new millennium.
A high-ranking North Korean official, Park Joomin, is sent to Singapore as ambassador.
And his son, the privileged North Korean boy Park Jaehee, enrolls at UWC,
an international school in Singapore.
Every day, Jaehee has to brace himself mentally to avoid
being swept away by the wave of capitalism and liberalism.
In the year 2000, he is the president of the classical orchestra club at UWC.
A freshman girl (Kang Yuna) applies to join... But she's from South Korea?!?!
Jaehee and Yuna have had no reason to meet their entire lives.
Separated by borders and ideologies in the world's only divided country,
they meet at UWC Singapore and gradually get to know each other through their conflicts.
Like the classical music of Johann Sebastian Bach and the rock music of Guns N' Roses.
The two don't mix at all.
But eventually, they became the closest friends and develop a sincere love for each other.
But... can this relationship last?
[ Character ]
Park Jaehee (Age 18)
The second son of Park Joomin, a high-ranking North Korean Communist Party official.
Steeped in communist and Juche ideology through a thorough ideological education.
His mom is a member of North Korea's Josun National Symphony Orchestra.
He has a deep appreciation for classical music and is an accomplished violinist.
In particular, he loves the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
When his dad was posted as ambassador to the United States,
he moved to Singapore with his dad and enrolled in UWC, an international school in Singapore,
and became the head of the orchestra club.
Despite being from North Korea, he's popular with girls because he's tall and handsome.
He checks himself constantly to avoid being influenced by liberalism and capitalism.
One day, Kang Yuna, a new student from South Korea, joins the club,
And he finds himself wavering as he teaches her to play the violin.
“You must have been rich in North Korea... You're a total Orange.
A North Korean orange that reeks of communism.”
Yuna sarcastically refers to him as an “orange,” but he has no idea what she means.
Kang Yuna (Age 17)
Eldest daughter of a Korean fried chicken restaurant owner in downtown Singapore.
In middle school, she was the vocalist of a rock band club.
When the IMF happened in South Korea in 1997, both her parents lost their jobs.
As a result, they are forced to move into a one-room apartment,
but with her life skills and cheerfulness, she helps her parents by taking care of her younger sister.
In 1999, her parents decided to move to Singapore.
She is a mature daughter who convinced her irritated sister and supported her parents.
After her parents opened a chicken restaurant in downtown Singapore,
She helped with the frying, serving, and delivering while studying hard to get into UWC,
the international school in Singapore.
After enrolling, she realizes the school doesn't have a rock band club,
so she joins the least expensive orchestra club with a single violin in hand (that belonged to her mom).
There, she meets Park Jaehee, a privileged North Korean, and learns to play the violin from him.
In return, she introduces him to the world of rock music.
They have different ideologies, different ideas, and different music tastes,
but soon, they realize that they've grown to like each other.
