- ‘Sumbi Island’
Sumbi from Sumbi Island was named after the Korean word ‘Sumbi’ derived from the Korean word for ‘dive’. Furthermore, Sumbi is also related to Sumbisori, the sound that female divers make when taking a deep breath after diving in the sea.
Sumbi Island’s ambition is to spread the culture and knowledge of female divers across the world by creating and sharing a friendly, cute and relatable character that will be able to touch the hearts of new audiences far and wide.
We believe that our character should not only represent the image of female divers but also facilitate the spreading of their culture and’s significance to Jeju’s history. We started our business with tourism souvenirs and now we would like to increase our reach by expanding our business area through more diverse channels, products and services.
