Summary
The title 'One of them is a lie' refers to the 'self-introduction' game created by the homeroom teacher in the story. In the new semester, when students introduce themselves, they express themselves in five sentences, but make sure to include lies in one of them so that other students can guess what is real and what is false. The reason why the three main characters of the novel, who are in the second year of high school, are conscious of each other for the first time is when they learn their own secrets.
After his mother passes away, Jiwoo plans to become independent by raising a companion lizard and earning money living in the same house with his mother's ex-lover. While working part-time, he draws cartoons and posts them on the internet. When Sori holds someone else's hand from a little girl, she can get to know how much time he(she) had left, so she does not let go of his pen and brush to avoid contact. Chae-eun stabbed his father with a knife who beat his mother a year ago, and now his mother is in prison instead of him. He wants to know when his father, who is hospitalized, will die, so he asks Sori to do a favor. One day, Chae-eun sees Ji-woo's cartoon "What I Saw" posted on the Internet, and is caught in anxiety over whether Ji-woo knows the secret of the night.
