This article highlights how Let’s Eat Dinner Together demonstrates the global adaptability of Korean

variety shows, blending local engagement with universal appeal to support co-production

opportunities and cultural format export strategies.

JTBC’s new variety program (aired 10 July) opened its first episode in Seoul’s

Seongbuk-dong district. Hosts Kim Hee-sun and Tak Jae-hoon, joined by actor Yoo Hae-jin and chefs

Lee Yeon-bok and Lee Won-il, rang residents’ doorbells to find “today’s dining companions” and prepared

an impromptu meal together. The premiere recorded 3.1 percent viewership nationwide and in the Seoul

metropolitan area(Nielsen Korea), ranking first in its time slot and signalling a promising start.

♦Format Adaptability for Global Remakes

Let’s Eat Dinner Together presents a locally grounded, universally resonant format combining

spontaneous interactions with residents, exploration of neighborhood spaces, and shared meals.

This structure allows for high adaptability across cultures, positioning the program as a representative

example of Korean entertainment formats suitable for global remake and co-production opportunities.

♦ Model for Regionally Integrated Content Promotion

By highlighting the daily lives and cultural narratives of Seongbuk-dong, the program exemplifies

how entertainment content can organically promote local tourism and community identity.

This suggests viable models for collaboration with international cities seeking to enhance cultural

    branding through media.
