NCSOFT Signs Distribution Deal with Animation Streaming Platform Laftel
The expansion of animation content through game-based distribution channels highlights a
key example of cross-industry convergence, offering meaningful insights into the diversification of
content delivery platforms and the utilization of offline cultural spaces.
South Korea’s leading game developer, NCSOFT has signed a content distribution agreement with Laftel,
a domestic animation streaming platform. Starting September 18, Laftel will provide over 3,800 titles of
animation content to NCSOFT’s NC Family Zone(NCFZ) internet cafés nationwide. NCSOFT also plans to run
various promotions in conjunction with this launch, aiming to transform its PC cafés into hybrid cultural
spaces that integrate gaming and animation. The collaboration reflects growing interest in synergy between
different content industries and the redefinition of offline entertainment venues.
♦ Content Convergence Strategy
This partnership exemplifies an advanced model of content convergence between gaming and streaming
sectors, offering a Korean-style blueprint for cross-industry innovation.
♦ Offline Distribution Diversification
By integrating animation services into PC cafés—a uniquely Korean offline platform—the project expands
traditional online distribution models and offers a novel approach to content access.
♦ Global Scalability
The fusion of gaming and animation has strong potential for global adaptation and may serve as a
reference case for future cross-border streaming and IP collaboration models.
