I am Kim Yangmi, the CEO of KawaiiM Universe, a film import and distribution company. Over the past 13 years, I have grown through experiencing the dynamism and creativity of the content industry. During these 13 years, I have accumulated experience in various aspects of importing and distributing Korean and foreign films, working within content distribution platforms. I have directly witnessed the ups and downs of content platform distribution.
Understanding consumer needs through data analysis and trend analysis has been pivotal in setting the direction of our business. We have expanded beyond foreign film distribution to harness the potential of K-contents, embarking on projects involving IP acquisition and utilizing our copyrighted films for mobile platform planning.
A successful case of investing in Korean cinema is the film "Yooksaoh," and we have directly invested in projects like "Please Take Care of Makgeolli." These works have not only achieved commercial success but also garnered high praise domestically and internationally, delivering new emotions to audiences. Furthermore, in the realm of foreign films, titles like "Night Shell" and "Gunpowder Milkshake" have provided diverse cultural experiences to domestic audiences while showcasing our presence in the global film market.
Undertaking projects such as the OTT service targeting women has revealed potential in unexplored genres.
At present, I have taken independent steps to embark on new challenges. Our goal is to pioneer new genres and provide a wider range of film content to invigorate the domestic film market. Additionally, we aim to discover and distribute exceptional films globally, expanding Korea's film industry to a broader world.
In pursuit of these ambitious goals, we pursue creative ideas and innovative strategies, closely analyzing trends in domestic and international film markets to offer optimized directions in a changing environment. Through ceaseless passion and effort, we strive to achieve higher goals, generating new value for the film industry.
