Smile ENT Co., Ltd. was established in 2011 and quickly became a leader in the foreign animation industry. Within five years of its founding, the company imported and released over 30 foreign films, including Thor and Mune: Guardian of the Moon, achieving an annual revenue of approximately 6 billion KRW. Leveraging its extensive expertise in successfully distributing foreign films, Smile ENT has expanded into the production, investment, and distribution of Korean films. Led by CEO Yoon Sun-young, a veteran marketer with experience at Samsung Video Business Division and CJ Entertainment, the company has spearheaded numerous Korean film projects.

Notable works include the 2018 release of What Happened to Monday, which attracted 900,000 viewers, as well as the 2019 re-releases of Studio Ghibli classics Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro. In 2020, Smile ENT distributed the Academy Award-winning war film 1917, followed by Stand by Me Doraemon 2 in 2021 and My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission in 2022, showcasing its exceptional market insight and robust distribution capabilities.

The company's entry into the Korean film market began in 2017 with the investment, marketing, and distribution of The Reservoir Game, a thriller about tracing MB's slush funds, which was a commercial success. Smile ENT continued to build its presence with releases such as the 2018 Busan International Film Festival's opening film Beautiful Days, the historical horror film The Wrath, the 2019 webtoon-based horror film 0.0MHz, and the 2020 supernatural horror Hotel Lake. In 2021, the company released Korea's first hypnosis-themed horror film, Hypnosis. Additionally, Smile ENT is preparing for the release of the webtoon adaptation The Ghost Station, solidifying its position as a leading distributor and marketer of low-budget Korean genre films.
