*Calico* is a bloody hard-boiled noir meticulously crafted from an adult perspective. To convincingly portray the realistic world of "beasts"—not cute animals, but real creatures that bleed for survival and desire—the series excluded animation styles and opted for overwhelming "photorealism" combined with AI technology.

However, the true weapon of this work lies beyond its visual splendor in the social critique contained within its narrative.

The fictional city of Felitown is a place where vegetarians, who enforce perfect control and peace, and carnivores, who crave blood, are intertwined. This serves as a mirror reflecting our current society, which is polarized to the extreme by hatred and conflict, ready to explode at any moment. Within the work, the beasts transcend the predictable dynamic of the strong and the weak. The brown bear, a massive and dangerous beast, appears instead as a social victim subjected to gaslighting while its instincts are suppressed, while a seemingly frail female sheep and a reptile who was excluded from the mainstream wield power by monopolizing massive capital and media. This subversive character arrangement mocks the societal prejudice that defines good and evil solely by species or outward appearance.

Above all, *Calico* is a chronicle of how the truth crumbles. The reptile holding media power in the story profits by intentionally inciting hatred and orchestrating riots through live-streamed videos designed to provoke the public. The ugly true face of the media, which runs wild obsessed with viewership numbers rather than the truth, and the madness of the crowd—incited by such cunning manipulation to unleash indiscriminate violence—bear a chilling resemblance to our reality. We intend to pose a weighty question to the audience by following the solitary deduction of the protagonist Calico, which begins with a love triangle among selfish beasts and spirals into a massive social conspiracy. In an era where the truth is obscured and fabricated rage reigns, what should we truly believe, and how can we break this yoke of hatred? This work will be the most cynical and passionate noir allegory, willingly wallowing in the lowest depths of the cesspool to find that answer.
