Summary
7 men and 4 women gather at a remote village house. Nobody knows the ages, jobs, or even the names of the others. The only thing they know everyone has in common is that they’re single, and ready to find THE one to fall in love and marry.
There are 12 rules that the residents of the “Love Village” must follow. One of them is wearing the same clothes with numbers on it. Another one is that everyone must call each other by the number on their clothes. And the most important rule? Never reveal anything about yourself, not even your name.
After a day of having first impressions and interacting without knowing anything about each other, the men and women finally introduce themselves to reveal their name, age, job and other personal information on the second day. The second impressions are made, possibly very much changed after the introduction session on the second day.
After everyone’s information is revealed in the morning, the men chooses which female resident they’d like to have lunch with. One female resident could be chosen by multiple male residents, and some other female resident could not be chosen at all- forced to eat lunch alone.
After the first choice, the men and women engage in various physical games or mind games, where they can show off their appeal apart from their looks, age and job. Outside of the games, the residents are free to approach whoever they like and try to get close with them by engaging in a conversation or various activities they’ve come up with. If there’s multiple competitors who want to approach the one you’ve chosen? Then you’ll have to do your best to get chosen. And based on these interactions, the final decisions are made on the last day, where someone could be going home happily with another, or someone could be going home alone.
Love Village is a unique dating reality show with a strong element of social experiment incorporated. They viewers will not only be able to feel the traditional fun coming from watching men and women getting match-made, but also enjoy watching how the impressions and choices can change depending on whether one judges the other by looks only, interactions only, or with the full information on their backgrounds. The show received amazing response with high ratings, and has been a hot topic amongst TV viewers even after the end of each episode due to many of the matched couples from the show actually marrying each other. And based on the impressive response from the Korean viewers, Love Village was successfully reamde and aired in China and Vietnam.
