Summary
"Mom's Default Setting" is a mid-form sci-fi family drama of about 10 minutes, produced entirely through AI — from image, video, and voice generation to editing (2026, based on our original short story of the same title). After suddenly losing her mother, Seoyun, an office worker in her thirties, is given an AI speaker that reproduces not only her mother's voice and speech patterns but her personality itself. The nagging, the hurt feelings, the tenderness — all exactly as they were. Seoyun leans on that voice for comfort, then begins to ask whether it is truly her mother, or only her mother's default settings. It is a story of grief and reconciliation that asks whether technology can stand in for death, played out across the ordinary hours of a family.
