log-line
“Her ordinary life hits the gas. The thrill ride begins.”
Synopsis
Kim Soon-jin (44) sits behind the wheel of her old car. She is an ordinary mother who works as a used-car dealer while raising two children, but her life is nothing but impoverished. One day, she participates in an amateur racing competition and astonishes the crowd with unbelievable drifting and cornering. It is the moment she proves that the woman once mocked as a clumsy “mom driver” is in fact a gifted driver.
But reality is harsh. Her husband is gone, her son awaits heart surgery, and debt collectors press her every day. Then, by chance, she ends up giving a ride to a man named Cha Dong-geun, who is fleeing with stolen money from a pseudo-religious cult. From that moment, Soon-jin’s ordinary life twists sharply. Pursued by the cult’s gang and the police, she instinctively grips the wheel and races through city alleys and streets. At every hair-raising moment, she escapes danger with remarkable skill, bursting with both laughter and tension.
After the incident, Soon-jin is unwillingly dragged into the world of crime as a “driver.” By day, she sells cars in the showroom; by night, she shuttles through money laundering sites, sometimes caught in car chases, sometimes falling into traps. One moment she is a mother shopping at the supermarket, the next moment she becomes a driver forced to race under the barrel of a gun.
Dong-geun lingers by her side, always smiling and calling her his “partner in crime,” but his true intentions remain unknown. At times he seems like a dependable ally, at other times like someone leading her into a trap. What face lies hidden behind his charming smile?
From a rural gambling den to carrying gang funds and a massive cash heist, Soon-jin plunges deeper into danger, realizing that she even feels a thrill she never expected. Yet her true purpose is always just one thing: the money for her son’s surgery. To protect her family, she is willing to take any risk.
But as the events escalate, gangs, fixers, and even the police close in on her. And Dong-geun—whether he is a trustworthy companion or her greatest threat—remains shrouded in mystery until the end.
Through gunfire-filled car chases, head-on collisions with giant trucks, and collapsing factories, Soon-jin refuses to release the wheel until the very last moment. She is no longer an ordinary driver. She is Mrs. Driver, racing for her family.
