Summary
The Empire , powered by corpses of mages , rules the world . Loran faces the imprisoned guardian dragon to drive the Empire out of her homeland of Areland . Arienne escapes the Imperial Academy with a necromancer in her head. Cain investigates the murder of his ex-lover, and discovers a terrorist plot. Areland is a client state that was conquered twenty years ago. It has been ten years since it suffered mass executions due to alleged plots of revolt.The threeprotagonists hail from that land.
