Summary

A coffin that has been kept for 700 years.
Is what's in the coffin love, duty, dedication, or obstinacy?
A story of a queen who has wandered around for 700 years with the coffin of her husband, risking the survival of her tribe.

Tenya, who's born from an ordinary tribe, fell in love with Zehen who's a candidate for a tribe chief when she's just over 100 years old. And after twists and turns, she becomes Ahuin, the spouse of Zehen.
Soon after, the "Heart of Blood", which is essential for the survival of the tribe, is attacked and contaminated. If they can't purify the Heart of Blood, all the members of the tribe would face death.
Zehen puts the Heart of Blood into his body and takes a deep sleep to purify it. He was supposed to wake up within a year but he doesn't wake up for 700 years. Tenya fights off the threatening powers, guarding the coffin in which the chief is sleeping.
It was not easy to find a place to hide the coffin, which weighs more than three tones, but with the help of Gojong, the last King of Joseon, Tenya can hide the coffin again. Gojong feels compassion for Tenya. To Gojong, Tenya is a secret friend that no one knows about, and the only being who can confide in all his inner stories.
More than 600 years have passed since the Heart of Blood slept. Since then, no clan member with innate strong power has born. The clan’s principle that the strong ones protect the weaks has also broken down. The ones with even the slightest strength exploit the weaker ones. Under the Japanese colonial rule, the weaker members were given only the minimum amount of blood and relegated to rugged tasks.
The queen's top priority is to protect the Heart of Blood. For if the blood heart is destroyed, all clans die. But Tenya, unable to leave and watch the clan exploit the clan, punishes them. And in the process, she learns that Rihimun was behind the exploiters.
Tenya and Rihimun hunt each other fiercely but neither is able to catch the other.
Joseon becomes independent and the story continues in 2011 in the Republic of Korea.
Rihimun lures wealthy humans promising that he can give the eternal life and uses the humans for chasing the queen and the Heart of Blood. And finally, after a battle that lasted 700 years, Tenya and Rihimun fight a final battle in modern-day Seoul. Tenya succeeds in removing Rihimun, but the battle is not over. Armed with modern weapons, humans target the Heart of Blood in hopes of eternal life.
Tenya was fatigued from the battle that had gone on for years. She had also used up a considerable amount of her strength to fight Rihimun. She no longer has the strength to protect the coffin.
In the end, Tenya decides to bear the Heart of Blood herself. Tenya opens the coffin, hoping that Zehen will hand over the Heart of Blood as chief’s duty.
For the past 700 years, Zehen has been struggled in the coffin. If he fails to control the Heart of Blood, all his clan wil perish. However, it was impossible to purify the contamination of the Heart of Blood. Zehen sacrificed his own body and disappeared along with the heart.
The time when the Heart of Blood led the clan was over. Now the clan must take its time with its own blood and heart.
