Korean fashion brands are shifting from shipping goods across borders to operating inside their target markets. This report highlights Musinsa Standard's first global buyer event and its move to local delivery in Japan, together with exclusive distribution deals in the Philippines and Indonesia, to show how a domestic brand builds a local footing in Asia.
A Two-Track Push: Localization and a B2B Channel
Musinsa Standard is pairing faster local delivery in Japan with its first wholesale showcase for overseas buyers, adding a B2B channel alongside its online sales
Key Issues
First order-taking event for overseas buyers: Musinsa Standard held its 27SS Global Buyer Event in Seoul's Seongsu-dong from 4 to 6 August. ZOZOTOWN of Japan, Tmall of China and buyers from the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand took part.
'Seoul Standard' as the sales pitch: The 27SS collection was shown under the theme 'Seoul Standard', led by City Leisure, a gorpcore (outdoor-inspired) line, and Cooltandard, a summer line using breathable, quick-drying fabrics. Musinsa said Southeast Asian buyers were especially interested in both.
Japan moves from cross-border to local delivery: Musinsa now stocks Musinsa Standard goods in a warehouse in Japan so that orders arrive in two to three days, starting with 92 women's items and expanding the range from September. The brand's transaction value in Japan rose 883% year on year during a June sale.
Local Partnerships Drive Southeast Asia Expansion
Musinsa is entering the Philippines and Indonesia through exclusive distribution deals, with local retail groups handling stores on the ground
Key Issues
Philippines, through the Ayala Group: Musinsa signed an exclusive distribution deal on 17 July with ACX Holdings, Ayala's retail arm, and announced it on 12 August. The first Musinsa Standard store in the country is due to open in the second half of this year at Glorietta mall in Makati City, Metro Manila.
Indonesia, through retail group MAP: A second exclusive agreement, signed in July, is with PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP), Indonesia's largest retail group, which runs more than 4,000 stores in over 80 cities and handles more than 150 global brands in a market of about 280 million people.
Online growth precedes offline expansion: Musinsa says transaction value on Musinsa Global Store grew about 50% a year on average in the Philippines from 2023 to 2025 and about 70% year on year in Indonesia in the first half of 2026. It plans to expand offline and local distribution in markets such as Malaysia and Thailand.
