The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) has developed a compact factory that produces made-to-measure smartwear prototypes.
Key Issues
• A three-stage continuous process: The system turns a wearer's measurements and design into a 3D garment model and a 2D cutting pattern. A digital twin checks equipment layout and process order before robots cut and sew the fabric.
• Hardware built for soft materials: Machine vision reads the shape and position of each cut piece, and a needle-type gripper with multiple degrees of freedom, developed by the team, moves the fabric to an automatic sewing machine.
• A route into small-batch smartwear: EMS training suits, heart-rate-monitoring undergarments and heated jackets need electrode and wiring positions tailored to each wearer. KITECH showcased the system at Preview in Seoul 2026 in August.
LF Tricycle's online outlet now lets shoppers search using style phrases and turns still product images into short model videos.
Key Issues
• Search by style phrase: Shoppers can type phrases such as 'autumn workwear look'. Vector search compares the phrase against about 7 million product records and matches items by attribute even without an exact keyword.
• Still images turned into model videos: Generative image-to-video technology analyzes the pose and build of the model in a product photo and renders the model walking or turning, showing the garment's silhouette and movement.
• Wider AI use ahead: Half Club has 12 million members and about 500,000 daily visitors. The company says it will expand its use of AI across customer touchpoints.
