Description
“CIVILIZATION seen through A Grain of Sugar”
“Sugar Wars divided according to Gentlemen-Slaves-Pirates categories”
Mankind's dangerous craving for sugar changed the world and forced 10 million Africans to harvest sugar. There was an abnormal monoculture of harvesting only sugar in places like Haiti and Caribbean, where slaves while the sugar was enjoyed by the gentlemen of Europe.
The power struggle over sugar was not restricted to the perpetrator and the victim as with gentlemen and slaves. There were also those who resisted that system, like pirates who looted the sugar between them.
This holds true even today. The efforts of major sugar companies to make up for decreased sugar consumption in advanced countries has made obesity in Africa into a serious issue. The colony that produced sugar in the past is now consuming it.
