In 2031 a constitutional amendment replaces the death penalty with the Indefinite Combat Sentence. Offenders are forced into survival fights that are broadcast live nationwide, and the revenue funds support for victims’ families and public welfare.

The protagonist, a high school boy, has endured brutal bullying. Determined not to become like his serial-killer father, he keeps meeting cruelty with kindness. One day a bully who knows his father’s identity threatens to expose it. The boy tries to stop him, an accident happens, and the bully dies. He is sentenced to the Indefinite Combat Sentence and sent to prison.

Crushed by the guilt of becoming a killer like his father, he loses the will to live—until he sees inmates mocking the victims’ families. Shame and anger boil over. He makes a decision. For atonement, he will defeat every criminal he faces.

After toppling opponent after opponent, he finally meets his father in the ring. Then the truth of his birth is revealed. He is actually the son of a celebrated police couple. A deranged serial killer murdered them, abducted the infant boy, and raised him to manufacture another monster. Enraged by the revelation, the boy nearly kills the murderer, but in the end he refuses to do so and chooses a different path.
