SYNOPSIS

NICOLASA (31), JUNE (29) and MIMÍ (26) are about to be hit by a major crisis. Nicolasa’s life is split between casting calls for commercials and the sale of empanadas among the neighborhood stores, but these days are numbered. Her father, PIERRE (57), wants to move into the condo where she lives. He’s tired of the quiet pace of the outskirts and wants to live with GRACIELA (49) (his wife) in the house he has been lending his daughter for free for years now. The news causes one of those violent scenes Nicolasa usually takes part in. The news is also a slap in the face for JUNE (29), Nicolasa’s best friend and roommate who, just like his friend, only makes ends meet because he doesn’t have to pay rent. His job as an employee at a real estate firm isn’t enough and staying for a while in his mother's house isn’t the best choice because she lives with his father, with whom he hasn’t spoken since he confessed he was gay.

On the way back from a casting call, Nicolasa is traveling in a crowded bus when, in an abrupt maneuver, she falls to the floor and hurts her ankle. When it all seems to collapse, she finds out she was cast in the main role of an important commercial. This job promises economic welfare and certain exposure.

Meanwhile, June adopts a more radical position regarding conspiracy theories about diabetes, which are encouraged by his self-help group of diabetic people. After spending many hours without giving himself insulin injections, June is as fragile as he's confused. JOSÉ, a Bolivian greengrocer, bumps into him while he’s in that state and, when he faints, rushes him to the hospital. That ephemeral encounter soon ends up in an unstoppable love affair.

On the other side, we have Mimí, who's Nicolasa’s alter ego. She's a young actress who has lived with her mother, ELSA (51), since she left her hometown. Mimí spends her life among television studios, barter agreements and stories. Besides, she’s in love with a TV producer who’s twenty-five years older than her. He’s a married man and a father of two children. As romance grows between them, Mimí’s life becomes full of secret encounters and the illusion of a future together that never materializes. So much stress makes her have a number of nervous tics that threaten her career overnight.

Nicolasa accidentally knows SANDRA (43), a taxi driver who rescues her during a panic attack and represents a light at the end of the tunnel. June discovers several theories about a plan to disguise diabetes as a way to control the population, so he decides to stop giving himself insulin injections again. The day in which Nicolasa, together with Pierre, June and Sandra, is going to collect the money from the commercial she starred in, she gets robbed and loses everything. In spite of the fact that people still recognize her from the commercial, the advertisement, which was aimed at fighting fatphobia, ends with a mixed message. So, Nicolasa becomes the target of mockery because she’s overweight.

Nicolasa, June and Mimí’s lives collapse and, in the state of turmoil caused by the shock wave, there are also joyful moments that help them go through their journey toward a brighter future. Toward the end of the first season, the pieces fit together and it seems that all of them find the way to make a fresh start.
